Immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis with infectious mononucleosis

A twenty-four year old man with infectious mononucleosis developed acute glomerulonephritis. Investigations including renal biopsy suggested that this was an immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis, not associated with a streptococcal infection. Such a mechanism may be responsible for other reported cases of "nephritis" in infectious mononucleosis.
