Schistosoma mansoni was found in all parts of Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria, Kenya. 30% of schoolchildren and 18% of villagers were infected. S. haematobium was found only rarely although Bulinus (Physopsis) africanus is present. None of 131 rodents or 10 vervet monkeys was found to be infected with either schistosome.
