Storage of vetch seeds for 4-6 days in an atmosphere containing granosan (ethyl mercuric chloride) led to a marked fall in their viability. Growth was retarded in the seedlings, and cytological analysis revealed disturbances in chromosome distribution during anaphase and an increase in polyploidy.
