Benzathine, penicillin G, neomycin, dexamethasone, chloramphenicol, prednisolone, isopropamide, kaolin, vitamins and fluids had been given over a prolonged period to 3 spider monkeys. The animals died 7-16 days after the onset of catarrhal and blood-stained diarrhoea, dehydration, pediculosis, dyspnoea, hypothermia, depression, gingival pallor and anorexia. Organisms characteristic of C. albicans were seen in the lungs of 1 and in the intestines of all the monkeys.
