For 14 days 24 healthy servicemen aged 18 to 23 years kept in bed or exercised, each in normal atmosphere or in a partial pressure of 30 torr CO2. Bed rest increased excretion of Mg, Ca and inorganic P in urine. Extra CO2 decreased excretion of Zn, but not significantly. Bed rest and CO2 were not synergistic for Ca excretion. Excretion of those 4 elements in faeces, and of Na and K in urine, were estimated also.
