Thirty-four patients with complex partial seizures were evaluated. The patients were all veterans and the age was from 33 to 71 years old. All patients had at least one abnormal electroencephalogram during the year previous to starting the study. The most common clinical symptomatology during auras included visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, olfactory hallucinations, fear, cognitive disturbances, and automatisms. Our findings suggest that emotional and social background influence ictal manifestations in our patients.
