Work in the author's laboratory since 1975 on immunization against Schistosoma mansoni infection by using Fasciola hepatica antigens is reviewed. Worm burden reductions of as high as 83% have been obtained and there was a reduction in fecundity of female schistosomes with a concomitant reduction in liver pathology.
