Fertility and milk production in cows of the Dutch-Friesian breed in the province of North-Holland

2 groups of 527 and 1593 Dutch Friesian cows respectively, the progeny of 2 AI bulls characterized by high conception rates, were inseminated during summer 1970 after normal parturition. Service period markedly affected conception rate after 1st insemination. There was no relationship between conception rate and FCM production during the 1st 100 days of lactation or the whole lactation. There was no evidence of an adverse effect of 100- and 305-day FCM yield on fertility. The lactation curve did not affect conception rates. There was no relationship between fertility and the difference between 305-day FCM yield and average yield of the herd.
