Surgical reduction of the size of the nose requires the systemic approach. Its important component is the accurate preoperative and intraoperative anatomic analysis of the character of bone and cartilage deformations. Thorough knowledge of various techniques for the surgical correction of these defects enables the surgeon to adequately modify all anatomic structures and achieve the optimal result in the postoperative period. The main factors predetermining the positive outcome of the surgical intervention are the single-step restoration of the nasal function (septoplasty, etc.) and the correct strategy of postoperative treatment.
