The organometric and histometric parameters of vascular and stromal components were studied in 95 umbilical objects, by taking into account its segmental structure, the specific features of the course of pregnancy and labor. Umbilical samples were divided into 4 groups: 1) those in full-term pregnancy (a control group); 2) those in hypoplasia of Wharton's jelly; 3) those in cord entanglement around the neck; 4) those during elective cesarean section. The results of a study of the histotopographic features of the umbilical cord allow evaluation of the structural and functional status of umbilical circulation. Morphometric equivalents have been developed for umbilical cords with hypoplasia of Wharton's jelly, those with cord entanglement around the fetal neck and those during surgical delivery.
