Three groups of ten horses each were vaccinated with three different concentrations of attenuated VEE virus (strain TC-84). Their susceptibility to virulent VEE virus was tested 14 to 28 days later. Horse with plaque-neutralizing antibody titres of 1:40 or greater resisted challenge infection. All ten horses given the recommended minimum dose of vaccine developed titres of 1:80 or greater. Inoculation of attenuated virus was followed by a mild systemic reaction.
