The investigation used the data on examination of 163 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and 36 cases of abdominal obesity. Significant differences in total blood-cholesterol levels were found. It was suggested that hypertriglyceridemia was brought about by early-onset insulin resistance in fat tissue prior to development of tumors. Such evidence may be instrumental both in identification of causative factors of lipid metabolism disorders and designing regimens of adjuvant postoperative therapy of CRC patients.
