Successful treatment of hypertension requires a holistic approach. Having a healthy lifestyle, including healthy eating/drinking and exercise, is an essential supplement to the classical forms of pharmaceutical treatment. The major dietary-physiological factors have been identified as weight reduction, monitoring of salt consumption, appropriate fibre intake, increased vegetable consumption, and reduction of excessive alcohol consumption.
