This review refers to the analysis of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in urinary tract infections proposed in the literature. Special attention was paid to the following problems: increasing antimicrobial resistance of traditional uropathogens, new mechanism of bacterial resistance and its influence on the modification of standard therapeutic protocols; new diagnostic algorithms taking into consideration risk factors of complicated clinical course: new cost-effective therapeutic strategies in non complicated as well as aggressive diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in complicated urinary tract infections.
