In the years 1965-1967, a serologic survey for arboviruses in the healthy population of Poland was made by examining 17,319 sera. The hemagglutination inhibition test was used, and positive results confirmed by the neutralization test. Analysis of the results according to counties permitted the compilation of a map of serologic distribution of antibodies against the arbo A and arbo B groups throughout the country. Areas suspected of possible presence of endemic foci of tick-borne encephalitis were the Lublin, Szczecin, Olsztyn and Białystok provinces; and for group A arboviruses the Gdańsk and Zielona Góra provinces. The results are discussed with reference to data from previous virologic and epidemiologic surveys.
