This study was carried out in connection with other wound ballistic investigations on five occasions. Sixty-fore anesthetized pigs were wounded by shooting in the medial aspect of one thigh about 5 cm from the pubic bone. The shooting ranges were 30 m and 100 m. The weapons were 7.6 2 M 62 from Finland, 7.62 AKM 47 from USSR and 5.56 M 16 A 1 from USA. The ammunition was their standard ammunition. The intra-abdominal pressure changes were recorded by a transducer introduced into the abdominal cavity. The standard small calibre projectiles could cause sometimes intra-abdominal pressure changes up to 100 KPa in pigs wounded in one thigh. The pressure changes did not damage any intra-abdominal organ.
