Although the Marburg disease outbreak was minuscule compared with the great epidemics and major endemic diseases even of today, it has proved to be of interest and importance out of all proportion to its size and its repercussions should be made full use of so that we can profit maximally from the lessons it teaches. If we fail to heed these warnings when they come, they are soon forgotten, and we are taken by surprise when something worse occurs.
