1. 18 Cases of dehydration of varied aetiology were studied. Out of these 10 received coconot water and 8 normalised coconut water. 2. Normalisation of coconut water has not shown any special benefits. 3. None of the patients in the study developed transfusion reactions. 4. E.C.G. and serum electrolyte studies did not show any evidene of hyperkalaemia after I.V. infusion of coconut water. 5. Coconut water is readily and cheaply available in rural, coastal districts and its high K content makes it a good replacement fluid for intravenous administration in cases of gastro-enteritis.
