The effect of air abrasion on enamel composite resin adhesive strength

In this study we observed the effect of air abrasion on enamel-composite resin adhesive strength in vitro. Thirty teeth were prepared and divided into three groups. One group was air abraded and was acid-etched, another one was air abraded, and the other one was acid-etched. Next the bond and resin were used. Then we observed and compared the shear bond strength. The data were analysed by Chi square(chi(2)) test. Enamel-composite resin adhesive strength were not affected by acid etching and air abrading, but can be affected by air abrading alone. In clinic the traditional acidetch technique that used in composite resin restoration can be replaced with air abrasion surface preparation technique.
