The overall goal of the Gender and Tropical Diseases Task Force is the development and implementation of measures to improve the health of women in countries where tropical diseases are endemic. The specific goals of the Task Force are discussed and studies which have been carried out on leprosy, the epidemiology of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Colombia, and the availability of health information for women in rural areas are described to show how the goals are being met.
