The Authors discuss the electrocardiographic alterations obtained during the infusion of increasing doses of dopamine in a group of normal subjects and in a group of patients with clinically ascertained coronaropathies. While the electrocardiographic tracing of the control group did not undergo variations that might be explained as an insufficient coronary supply, the cardio-ischemic patients presented important alterations of the repolarization phase and complex arrhythmias. Having briefly discussed the mechanism of action of the drug, the Authors propose the use of dopamin during the diagnostic phase for being able to distinguish the subjects with latent coronaropathy from those with normal coronary function.
