Effect of tuberculin on the mitotic regime in cell cultures

The effect of tuberculin on unsensitized cell cultures was studied. In half an hour contact with cells of human amnion tuberculin in a concentration of 1.5, 1 and 0.5 mg/m1 produced a marked increase in the numberlof pathological mitoses (up to 90-95%), with a prevalence of pathological forms absent in control- an adhesion of chromosomes in metakinesis. The authors consider that these changes point to the toxic action of tuberculin upon the cells. Tuberculin action is reversible. In 3 hours the mitotic regimen corresponded to the control.
