The case of a 65-year-old Irish man with membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis secondary to Borrelia burgdorferi infection is presented. This is the first report of glomerulonephritis secondary to Lyme disease in a human. The pathogenesis in this case is proposed to be similar to that of glomerulonephritis in chronic hepatitis B infection.
