Propranolol in prophylaxis of migraine

The effect of propranolol on migraine attacks was compared with a placebo, in a double blind crossover trial. Twenty six subjects with frequent attacks of migraine participated in a 16 wk treatment regimen. There was significant difference between the effect of propranolol and placebo in reducing the frequency of headache, as evaluated by signed rank test of Wilcoxon. No serious side-effects were noted.
