Effect of climatological factors on the population of aphids and whiteflies in Lucknow region of Uttar Pradesh (India)

In field studies carried out during 1988-90 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, the aphids trapped in yellow sticky traps were Aphis craccivora, A. gossypii, Brevicoryne brassicae, Myzus persicae and Rhopalosiphum maidis. The incidence of alate aphids showed a positive correlation with relative humidity and a negative correlation with mean, maximum and minimum temperature. The incidence of Bemisia tabaci fluctuated throughout the year with peaks in March-April, June and September-October. Trap catches were positively correlated with temperature and negatively correlated with mean relative humidity.
