Application of spectrum analysis of equilibration recordings (posturography) in clinical pharmacology of vindeburnol

A study was carried out on single-blind basis in order to assess the effects of vindeburnol on balance. Thirty elderly patients with atherosclerosis were included in this trial and received firstly placebo for two weeks and secondly vindeburnol (three 20 mg tablets daily) for four weeks. The body sway of these patients was measured and recorded at weekly interval, using posturography. Statistical analysis showed : - no placebo effect, - an improvement of orthostatic postural activity induced by treatment with vindeburnol. The modified pattern seen in the elderly following treatment with vindeburnol resembles the pattern found in young healthy subjects, - the effects of the drug was maximum after four weeks of treatment, - no intolerance was reported.
