The authors prepared injections for intravenous use by freeze-drying of allopurinol sodium. An euhydric buffer system was developed by the application of which the pH of the aqueous solution of the sodium salt was adjusted to 10,3. In the buffer system the stability of allopurinol was controlled after storing the preparation at 5°, 25° and 60°C, respectively for a month, decomposition products could not be detected. An essential need was met by the preparation of this dosage from of allopurinol that might be life saving at shock and grave metabolic disorders of children.
