Acceptance and non-acceptance of birth control methods and associated facts in rural areas of Midnapur district of West Bengal

The paper investigates the attitudes of acceptors and non-acceptors of birth control methods in the Midnapur district of West Bengal. The data were collected by interviewing 490 Bengalee Hindu women in three villages of the district from January to April 1980. The current state of family planning in the district was not found to be encouraging. The percentage of acceptors in the study was only 20.81. On the other hand 63.14% of the non-acceptors wished to learn methods of restricting the number of their children.
