The treatment of traumatic injuries of the hand and fingers in children should be more active and include surgical interventions aimed at restoring both the shape, and the function of the traumatized organ. The paper presents the experience in surgical management of 81 children with traumatic injuries of 93 fingers, treated in the course of I3 years. The surgical techniques selected to match the nature of the trauma are described. The late results followed -up in 45 children for 1 to 7 years support the rationale of the suggested techniques. Sparing debridement should be preferred, avoiding amputations.
