The interrelationships between (1) duration of intermenstruum, (2) frequency of marital coitus, and (3) the rate of conception per menstrual cycle, are analyzed. The author concludes that "fertile coitus is possible only during 12-24 hr. per cycle. The probability of conception resulting from a single unprotected coitus would thus appear to lie between 1 in 50 and 1 in 25.".
