This paper reviews some of the issues associated with the development of nurse consultant posts, with the intention of highlighting some of the similarities and differences between nurse consultants and general management consultants. It will also highlight some of the practical issues associated with the development, the benefits that may be gained, and some of the issues associated with evaluating such posts.
