Effect of antibiotics on symptom expression and yield of plants affected with certain yellows diseases of potato

Spraying potato plants attacked by purple top roll or marginal flavescenee with antiamoebin, DPB, tetracycline or chloramphenicol did not restore normal growth, but 40-50% of the plants developed symptomless shoots and yield was improved. Symptom development was delayed in tomato plants with potato witches' broom when roots of grafted plants were immersed in 1000 ppm sols, of antiamoebin, tetracycline or DPB for 10 min.
