A new estroprogestational association containing 35 mcg of ethinyl estradiol and 1 mg of norethindrone was tried on a population of 266 women for a total of 2476 cycles. The total dose of estrogen administered in 21 pills per cycle was 735 mcg, which is quite inferior to the total dose of most biphasic preparations sold in France. There was only 1 pregnancy in a woman who had repeatedly failed to take the pill. This new association was characterized by a decrease in the number of cases of dysmenorrea, and by a slight increase in the number of cases of spotting; there were no changes in body weight or in arterial pressure.
