The effect of various lectins on the cholinergic structure of the frog heart

Effects of lectins on the cholinergic receptors of isolated hearts from male frogs Rana temporaria were studied. The following lectins were used: phytohemagglutinin P, concanavalin A, lectins from the seeds of pea and castor bean, and lectin from common pokeberry mitogen. All the lectins studied showed cholinomimetic properties in concentrations of 10-23 to 10-3 g/ml.
