Prevalence of antibodies to Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii in Swedish dogs

The prevalence of antibodies to Neospora caninum and Toxoplasma gondii was determined in a sample of 398 Swedish dogs. The presence of antibodies to N. caninum was analysed using an ELISA technique and an IFAT. Of the 398 sera samples examined, 2 (0.5%) by ELISA gave positive results and only 1 of those examined by IFAT. Antibodies to T. gondii were analysed by a direct agglutination test and 30% of the dogs tested positive.
