Effect of oestrogens on rat resistance to stagnant anoxia during ontogenesis

300 male rats aged 5, 12, 18, and 25 days, and those that were adult, were administered stagnant anoxia by means of a positive radial speed of 10 gm in a centrifuge of the authors' construction. The animals were administered either 50 gamma per animal of estrogen or 50 gamma/10 gm of body weight 24 hours prior to the positive gravitation. The administration of estrogens was found to increase the animals resistance to this form of stagnant anoxia throughout the course of postnatal ontogenesis. No sex-linked differences in the level of this resistance to stagnant anoxia were observed.
