A survey of 120 dogs in a rabies endemic area in Buenos Aires failed to reveal evidence of carrier animals or non-fatal rabies in the form of chronic or abortive infections. Virus isolation and fluorescent antibody tests in dogs with clinical rabies and animals inoculated with attenuated virus supported the validity of the diagnostic techniques.
