Samples of abdominal subcutaneous fat were taken from 4 foetuses in the tenth week of gestation, 16 dead newborn infants, 9 premature and 7 full term, 5 dead children aged from 5 months to 5 years and 38 living adults and samples of interscapular fat were taken from 3 premature and 4 full term infants and the 5 older children and the fatty acid composition was estimated by gas chromatography.
