Branched anteisoacids (C15:0 and C17:0) prevailed in the cells of strains of Brevibacterium linens, Corynebacterium aquaticum, c. mediolanum, Arthrobacter (Brevibacterium) helvolum, Curtobacterium spp. The taxons differ in the content of C16:0-isoacids and in the C15:0 to C17:0. In B. ammoniagenes, B. stationis, Rhodococcus (Nocardia) corynebacteroides, R. luteus C16:0 to C19:0 (tuberculostearic) and C18:0 acids are the basic ones. No acids are found with the number of C atoms higher than C21. R. maris cells also contain a considerable number of normal and monoenic C17-acids and C16:1 acids. C. (B.) divaricatum, a representative of saprophytic corynebacteria, has a spectrum of fatty acids, characterized by prevalence of C16:0 and C18:1 and the absence of tuberculostearic acid.
