Epizootic of equine influenza in 1969 in Poland

Epidemiological observations on the course and spread of equine influenza in Poland during the 1969 epizootic are reported. The dynamics of the spread of the disease in the country are shown in graphs. The first case was confirmed at the end of September in the Lublin district which borders with the Soviet Union. In November and December mortality rates reached 19.24 and 18.52% respectively. A/equi-2/Warsaw/69 was identified as the causal virus. The 1969 outbreak was the the largest epizootic in the country since 1954. These data were not published previously because of state censorship.
