Effects of methylflavonolamine (MFA) on TXA-2 and PGI-2 plasma levels in rabbits of myocardial infarction were investigated. It was found that TXB-2 levels were inhibited by MFA 2.5 or 5.0 mg cntdot kg-1 iv while 6-keto-PGF-1alpha levels were only slightly inhibited after repeated doses of 5.0 mg cntdot kg-1 iv within 6 h. This result indicates that MFA exhibit stronger inhibition on cyclo-oxygenase in platelets than in endothelial cells. In addition, the myocardial injury and the size of myocardial infarction were much less in the MFA treated groups than in the control.
