Hematuria in different morphological forms of malignant kidney neoplasms

The authors made a retrospective study of 120 patients operated on for malignant tumours of the kidneys (1970-1990). In 61 patients hematuria wis seen before surgery: in 21 patients it was the first and only manifestation of the disease. Hematuria was most frequently observed in transition-cell renal cancer; rarer in mixed-cell cancer. Hematuria was absent in granular-cell variant of renal-cell cancer and in planocellular renal cancer.
