Capercailzie (Tetrao urogallus), black game (Lyrurus tetrix), hazel hens (Tetrastes bonasia) and grouse (Lagopus lagopus) were obtained in Finnish Lappland north of the Arctic Circle in September and October. Vitamin A in the liver was estimated by the Carr and Price method. For 21 capercailzie the mean was 25 598 IU/100 g liver, for 17 black game 21 820, for 23 hazel hens 53 334 and for 11 grouse 88 603.
