Obesity and successful weight loss have been studied extensively from a variety of perspectives. Factors shown to be associated with being obese include socioeconomic status, behavioral and psychosocial variables, and genetic factors. In this study, we examined weight loss in a group of selected community volunteers to determine whether historical, attitudinal, and behavioral factors were associated with successful weight loss.
