Polyclonal serum against a canine isolate of Leishmania infantum was prepared in goats. Amastigotes in tissue sections from 5 experimentally infected dogs and 12 dogs which acquired infection in Spain were identified more readily by the peroxidase-antiperoxidase technique than by ordinary histological examination when the density of parasites was low.
