Pregnant adolescents are doubly at nutritional risk because ongoing maternal growth may compete with growth of the fetus. No studies on the relationship between nutrient intake or status and GTI have been conducted with pregnant adolescents. The purpose of this preliminary study was to determine the relationship between dietary intake of energy, protein, vitamin A and C, iron, and zinc and the development of GTI in pregnant adolescents.
