Trichinellosis in Poland (1988-1991)

A short review comparing the prevalence of trichinellosis in pigs and man in Poland, using data from annual reports, is presented. data for the years 1988-1991 and 1988-1990 are examined for pigs and humans, respectively. The number of infected pigs has risen considerably over the 4 years studied (0.0018% in 1988 to 0.003% in 1991). A doubling in cases of human trichinellosis was observed between 1989 and 1990 but the 1990 figure is similar to that of 1988.
