The case is reported of a 51-year-old man in Saudi Arabia who contracted Plasmodium falciparum malaria while visiting Pakistan. He was treated with chloroquine and paracetamol to relieve his high fever but the fever recurred after 2 weeks. Thick blood film revealed ring stages of P. falciparum. He was successfully treated with sulfadoxine 500 mg and pyrimethamine 25 mg three times a day for 10 days.
