The authors give reasons for limiting the use of human influenza vaccine to protect against the effects of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) (blue-eared disease) including the inadvisability of using a human biological product in food producing animals and the possibility that vaccine may cause cross-reactions in serological tests for the disease and seriously hinder any monitoring or eradication scheme.
