During the past 4 years a group of research workers has attacked the problem of dental caries along the following lines: (a) histopathological studies of dentine and enamel with reference to the changes occurring in caries; (b) chemistry of saliva, blood and teeth in normal and caries individuals; (c) bacteria found in carious and noncarious mouths; (d) nutritional factors responsible; (e) experimental production of caries.
